Waist Level Camera

Waist Level Camera turns iPhone into a classic medium-format film camera. On iPhone Duo, it folds into one.

Fold iPhone Duo to a right angle and hold it at your waist. The lower screen becomes the ground glass you look down into, and the cameras on the upper half face your subject. On any other iPhone, the whole camera fits on one screen.

AUTHENTIC
Shoot the way medium-format photographers did:
• Pull the dark slide before the camera will fire
• Wind the crank a full turn between frames
• Set shutter speed and aperture on the lens, guided by a needle meter
• Focus by hand with the focusing ring and loupe
• The viewfinder goes dark after each shot until you wind on
• 12 square frames to a roll

SIMPLE
Just want to take the picture? Flip the lever to Simple for automatic exposure and focus, no dark slide, and film that winds itself. Or mix and match each rule in the settings.

LIFELIKE
Pebbled leatherette and polished chrome, lit in real time: tilt your iPhone and the light moves across the camera. Recorded shutter and crank sounds, with haptics you can feel through the mechanism.

FILM
Load colour negative, black and white or slide film. Each frame is developed on your iPhone with a square crop, film tone, grain and vignette, then saved to Photos. Prefer ordinary photos? Turn off Film Look.

PRIVATE
No accounts, no ads, no tracking and no internet connection. The app can only add photos to your library; it can't see the ones already there.
