Every run previews what will happen. New files, changed files, deletes, and conflicts, all grouped, all visible, all awaiting your approval. Nothing executes until you say so. This is not a setting you can accidentally turn off. It is how Even works.

Mirror: make one folder an exact replica of another, including removing files deleted from the source. Backup: copy new and changed files to a destination and never touch the source. Two way: reconcile both folders against a shared baseline so edits from either side merge correctly.

Removed and overwritten files go to the macOS Trash or a per pair versioned archive, your choice. Hard delete is never the default. Recovering a file you did not mean to remove is a single step.
