Omedetou

Omedetou is a complete Japanese course that lives on your phone.

Start at the very beginning — the hiragana and katakana charts, one sound at a time, with audio and pronunciation notes for every character. Then work upward through more than fifty grammar chapters, from your first sentence to N1 (master level) material, each with worked examples, vocabulary and practice questions.

CLASSROOM
The Classroom walks you through the whole course as one linear path with no subscription required. Each class teaches a chapter a single idea at a time: a grammar points explained, worked examples, a short quiz to make sure it stuck, then the chapter's vocabulary and kanji as flashcards — and finally the test. Finish a chapter and the next one is waiting. Every learner can walk the path from あ to N1.

BUILT FOR READING JAPANESE

Furigana sits above every kanji, and one slider controls how large Japanese text appears throughout the app — so readings stay legible whatever your eyesight. Anything can be read aloud, and you can search the dictionary by speaking instead of typing.

YOUR PROGRESS, YOUR DEVICE

Everything you do is stored on your iPhone. There are no accounts, no sign-up, no advertising, no analytics and no third-party trackers. Turn on iCloud sync and your progress follows you to another device through your own private iCloud — which nobody else can read. You can export a backup at any time.

The app works completely offline. It never needs a connection to teach you anything.

A home screen widget shows a word from your studies and rotates it through the day.
