PalChat Communicator

PalChat Communicator is a communication board for people who find speaking hard or tiring. Tap a picture to hear a word. Tap several to build a sentence, then press Speak.

A COMFORTABLE, PREDICTABLE BOARD
- Sixty common words in a fixed grid (a caregiver chooses how many to show), so each word stays in the same place and becomes familiar through repeated use.
- Ten folders: topics, people, food, comments, questions, jokes, directions, compliments, saying stop or no, and your own words.
- Large, calm, colour-coded buttons with original illustrations and clear labels, for phones and tablets in portrait or landscape.
- Larger-button and reduced-motion options.

MADE TO FIT EACH PERSON
- A caregiver can hide words to start small and show more as the person grows.
- Drag buttons to rearrange them, or use the Move buttons if dragging is hard.
- Add your own words, folders and pictures, from a photo or from the built-in picture set.
- Five natural voices (Sophie, Luke, Alex, Jessica, Brian), turned on by a caregiver. Board words are saved on the device, so they speak instantly and also work without internet. Until then, and whenever a word cannot be fetched, the device's built-in voice speaks, so the board is never silent.
- Sound plays even when the ringer switch is on silent.
- Keep separate profiles for different people.
- About me: a caregiver can add the person's name, contacts, allergies and other important details. They appear as big "About me" buttons ("My name is ...", "Please call my mom") and an emergency card in large text with a Speak all button. These details stay on the device and are always spoken by the device's own voice.

SENTENCE IDEAS
- Ideas turn the words in the sentence bar into whole sentences that use them together (for example, "different", "drink" and "please" become "Can I have a different drink, please?" or "I want a different drink, please.").
