Routerloom: Network Latency

Routerloom times real web requests from your iPhone or iPad and shows what kind of network connection you are on, so you can see at a glance whether a connection is responsive or struggling. Share the results as a plain-text report.

WHAT IT SHOWS
- Connection: Wi-Fi, cellular, Ethernet, another network type or offline, updated live as your connection changes
- Metered: whether iOS treats the connection as expensive, for example cellular data or a personal hotspot
- Low Data Mode: whether the connection is limited by Low Data Mode
- Endpoint timing: for each web address in your list, Routerloom makes one request and reports the total time in milliseconds, the HTTP status code, and a simple rating (Excellent under 50 ms, Good under 120 ms, Slow under 250 ms, Very slow above that). Failed requests show the error, such as a timeout or no internet connection.

HOW IT WORKS
1. Two endpoints are included to start: Apple's captive portal check page and Cloudflare's trace page. Add any other web address you care about, such as your company site or a service you rely on.
2. Tap Run diagnostics. Each endpoint is requested once, in order, with a 10-second timeout.
3. Review the timings, then tap Share plain-language report to send a text summary (connection type, metered and Low Data Mode status, and every result) to yourself or to whoever helps you with your network.

WHAT TO KNOW
Each timing covers a complete web request as apps experience it, which can include looking up the name, setting up a secure connection and downloading the response. Routerloom is not a ping, DNS, packet-loss, bandwidth or traceroute test, and it does not inspect or configure your router. Endpoints you add are kept while the app is open and are not saved after it closes.
