MOT Tester Annual Assessment

Every authorised MOT tester has to pass the DVSA annual assessment to keep testing. It is 30 multiple-choice questions, 80% to pass, and if you do not complete it by the end of the training year your testing account is suspended.

This app is practice for that assessment.

BUILT FROM THE SOURCE
Questions are written from DVSA's own published material — the MOT inspection manuals, the MOT testing guide, the annual training topics and current special notices. Every explanation cites the manual section it came from, so you can check it yourself.

These are practice questions written to the published topics. They are not the real assessment questions, which DVSA does not publish.

BOTH GROUPS COVERED
Choose your route on first launch and switch any time from Settings:

• Group A — motorcycles and sidecars (classes 1 and 2)
• Group B — cars and passenger vehicles (classes 3, 4, 5 and 7)

Progress is stored separately for each group, so if you are authorised for both you can work one route without losing the other.

THE REAL PAPER, NOT AN APPROXIMATION
The mock test mirrors the DVSA structure exactly — 30 questions drawn in the published proportions:

• 4 on lamps, reflectors and electrical equipment
• 5 on the MOT testing guide
• 5 on braking requirements
• 12 on the inspection manual for your group
• 4 on topics from previous training years

Pass mark is set to 80%, the same as the real assessment.

WHERE THE MOTORCYCLE AND CAR STANDARDS DIFFER
If you test both groups, the app is written to catch the places the two papers diverge — brake pads at 1.0mm on a motorcycle against 1.5mm on a car, the fixed 27.5% efficiency floor, stop lamps that must work from both brake controls, and the Q plate rules. Those are exactly the questions a dual-class tester gets wrong.

The free version gives you 10 questions in every topic plus a mock test, so you can see the standard before paying. A subscription or one-off unlock opens the full bank for both groups.
