DoubleTake turns your iPhone into a multi-camera studio, allowing you to capture video from two cameras simultaneously on your nearest device.
*Note: Based on the capabilities of iOS 15, multi-camera video is limited to the following devices: iPhone 13 series devices, iPhone 12 series devices, iPhone 11 Pro Max, 11 Pro, 11, Xs Max, Xs, Xr, SE 2, iPad Pro 2018 and newer. While this app will install and run on all devices supported by iOS 15, all devices outside of this list will be restricted to recording video on a single camera.*
Record video in new ways with DoubleTake:
- Camera Visualization: Better than a director's viewfinder! Use DoubleTake's camera selector view to visualize all the available cameras on your device. Use this view to help determine how to frame your shot and which camera to choose.
- Shot/Reverse Shot: Capture all the organic and intimate interactions between two actors or an interviewer and interviewee. Traditionally, filmmakers needed to use two cameras and position them in cumbersome "over-the-shoulder" positions. With DoubleTake, you can place a device between the actors and put the viewer in the middle of the conversation.
- Multi-Lens: Shoot two different focal lengths of the same subject simultaneously. Use DoubleTake with the ultra-wide lens (only available on iPhone 11 Pro Max, 11 Pro, and 11) and telephoto lens to capture a freeze-frame and insert shot of the subject at the same time. Or use any other combination of front and rear cameras for unparalleled multi-lens capture.
- PiP or Discreet: The DoubleTake interface allows you to view both cameras of your video capture simultaneously using a Picture in Picture (PiP) window. You can move the PiP around on the screen, tap to zoom in, or slide it away when it's distracting (the second video will continue recording). With DoubleTake, you can decide whether to record your video as separate discrete files or as a composite video with a PiP window that includes the animation you see on the screen.
- Split Screen: Doubletake also allows you to create a 50/50 split screen effect using any two cameras and save it as a single video. This is great for capturing engaging interviews or any situation where two aspects of a story need to have equal weight on the screen.
- Focus and Exposure Control: DoubleTake allows you to set and lock the focus and exposure of both cameras during multi-lens shooting using our unified reticle. Simply tap anywhere to set the reticle, then tap again to lock or unlock. Our easy-to-use camera switcher allows you to easily move between Camera A and Camera B during recording to adjust focus and exposure independently of each other.
Video Specifications:
- Full-frame focus and exposure for smooth and easy autofocus and exposure adjustment.
- Optional broadcast frame rates: 24fps, 25fps, and 30fps depending on your project requirements.
- High-bitrate encoded 1080p video for the highest quality. (Note: 1080p video is the maximum resolution supported by the Apple API for multi-lens capture).
- Composite Picture in Picture or separate discrete video files recorded as.h264.mov files will be saved to DoubleTake's internal library, which supports batch export to the Camera Roll.
