TotalFetch puts a tidy summary of your Mac in your terminal — the kind of greeting that tells you where you are before you type the first command.

WHAT IT SHOWS

macOS and its build, your Mac model, the chip and its cores, the load averages, memory and swap in use, disk in use, display resolution, the kernel, the battery and its health, the power mode, your local IP, the locale, your shell, the terminal you are in, the local time, and how long the Mac has been up.

Every line is optional: turn it on or off with a switch and the preview changes as you do it. Drag a line to move it, and the fetch prints them in your order.

Lines with nothing to say hide themselves — no battery on a Mac mini, no swap where none has been needed.

YOUR LOGO, YOUR COLOUR

Pick the Total.js mark or the line version, paste your own ASCII art, or point TotalFetch at a picture and let it turn that into ASCII for you. One colour setting paints the logo and the labels together, the values line up in a column, and you choose what goes after each label — a colon, an arrow, a bar, or nothing at all.

Keep a whole look under a name — one for work with four lines, one for showing the Mac off with everything on — and switch with a click.

The preview shows it on a dark terminal or a light one, so you can see where your colours land before you commit to them. And one button copies the whole thing, plain for a README or with its colour codes for another terminal.

IN YOUR TERMINAL, NOT IN A WINDOW

Install it once and `totalfetch` works in any terminal — zsh, bash or fish. Turn on the switch and it greets you when a terminal opens; leave it off and it waits until you ask for it.

The command is a two-line script in your own folder. The greeting is a marked block added at the end of your shell's startup file — with fish, a file of its own in conf.d, so nothing of yours is touched at all. Uninstalling keeps a copy of that file beside it and takes back out exactly what was put in.

IT STAYS ON YOUR MAC

Everything is read from the system as you look at it. No account, no services, nothing sent anywhere, nothing running in the background. The app is what you keep open while you set it up; the rest of the time it is just a command.

TotalFetch is made by the team behind Total.js.
