Sunset is a free sunset and sunrise forecast app that tells you whether tonight's sunset or tomorrow's sunrise will be colorful. It scores every sunrise and sunset from 0 to 100, hours ahead, from the cloud, humidity and visibility forecast at that exact minute. Alerts for the great ones are free, and there is no account.

EVERY SUNRISE AND SUNSET GETS A SCORE
Sunset reads the cloud, humidity and visibility forecast for the exact minute the sun comes up or goes down and turns it into a 0 to 100 score with a plain-English summary: thin high clouds over an open horizon, a bank of low cloud toward the sun, rain at the moment, or a clear sky and a clean gold glow. Watch sunrises, sunsets, or both.

WHY THE SKY WILL OR WON'T LIGHT UP
Four factors show what is driving the score:
• Color: high and mid clouds that catch the light
• Streaks: thin cirrus with room to glow
• Horizon: open sky toward the sun, including the low cloud 80 km to the east or west that decides whether the light gets through at all
• Clarity: dry, clean air for vivid tones

FREE ALERTS
A notification before the sunsets worth going out for, and the evening before a great sunrise, so you can set an alarm. Alerts are rebuilt as the forecast changes, so a sky that clouds over loses its alert.
