A materials engineer reviewing a stack of mill test reports keeps hitting the same uncomfortable entry: the certificate reports sulfur only as “below 0.050”, the order allows 0.030 max, and a spreadsheet will happily call that a pass. Alloynote is a heat-review workbench built to refuse that shortcut.

Each case pairs the requirement limits you enter - cited to the exact governing source and revision you typed them from - against values transcribed off the certificate, qualifier by qualifier. The comparison engine runs exact decimal interval arithmetic: less-than, at-least, ranges, and not-detected entries become open or closed intervals, and each property resolves to within, outside, ambiguous, or missing only when the mathematics can prove it. Unit handling converts ksi to MPa, weight percent to ppm, and Fahrenheit to Celsius exactly, and it declines to equate hardness scales such as HRB and HBW rather than invent a number. Every verdict opens an inspector that walks its rule path step by step.

Identity fields from certificate, tag, and order are reconciled so a transposed heat number surfaces before the metallurgy does. Requirement revisions freeze one way; a frozen revision exports a deterministic PDF, JSON, and CSV review packet, with SHA-256 digests recorded for attached evidence. A worked fictional training heat opens on first launch, and iPad gets a three-pane workbench with a persistent inspector. Alloynote records comparison evidence only - it does not certify, accept, or reject material, and no standards content is bundled.

Everything you enter stays in on-device storage: the app makes no network connections, has no sign-in, and its App Privacy label is Data Not Collected.
