The Three Kingdoms era was a historical period in China. At the end of the Eastern Han Dynasty, Cao Cao unified the northern part of China and actually held the power of the Eastern Han Dynasty in the position of prime minister, obtaining the title of "King of Wei" and being granted the Nine Excellencies.
In 220 AD, Cao Cao passed away, and his son Cao Pi succeeded him. In the same year, he forced Liu Xie, the last emperor of the Eastern Han Dynasty, to abdicate. Thus, the Eastern Han regime came to an end, and the Three Kingdoms era officially began.
In 221 AD, Liu Bei proclaimed himself emperor with Yizhou as his base, and the state was named "Han", historically known as "Shuhan" or "Jihan". In the same year, Sun Quan, who割据 (it should be "occupied" here) Yangzhou, Jingzhou, Jiaozhou and other places, accepted the canonization of the Cao Wei regime and was called "King of Wu".
In 229 AD, Sun Quan proclaimed himself emperor and established the state, with the state name "Wu", historically known as "Dongwu".
In 263 AD, the Sima family, who controlled the Cao Wei regime, annexed Shuhan. In 265 AD, they deposed the emperor and proclaimed themselves emperor, with the state name "Jin", historically known as "Western Jin".
