Takebase

Takebase keeps a band's recordings in one place.

Record an idea in Voice Memos, share it into Takebase, and it lands on the song it belongs to instead of at the bottom of a chat thread. The next take stacks on the last one, so a song carries its own history and you can still hear where it started.

HOW IT WORKS

Share a recording in from Voice Memos, from Files, or from anywhere with a share sheet. Pick the song it belongs to, or start a new one.

Play it back on a waveform you can scrub. Tap the timeline to leave a comment at 1:23, and everyone else sees it pinned there.

When somebody bounces a new mix, it goes on as the next take. Switch between takes in the player and compare them without leaving the song.

Send a link to anyone who needs to hear it.

YOUR LIBRARY

Albums hold songs. Songs hold takes, newest first. There is no folder tree to keep tidy and no session layer to click through.

Every song row shows how many takes it has and how long they run. The player names the take you are hearing, so nobody leaves notes on last week's mix by accident.

COMMENTS

A comment is pinned to a second in the audio and belongs to the take it was left on. Reply to one, or mark it resolved when it is dealt with. A comment never silently follows the audio onto a new mix of a different length, so its timestamp still points at the moment somebody meant.

LISTENING

A take is kept on your device after the first play, so a song keeps playing where the signal does not. Playback carries on from the lock screen and over AirPlay.

Takebase accepts m4a, mp3, wav and aiff. Whatever you send is converted to 192 kbps AAC, and that converted copy is the one Takebase keeps and streams.

SHARING OUTSIDE THE BAND

A share link opens the album in Takebase for anyone who has the app, and offers the app to anyone who does not. Tapping a link joins that person to the album, so send one to the people you want in the band's work. A link is good for a day, and each one can allow or refuse comments and switching between takes.

WHAT IT COSTS

Free up to 30 minutes of stored audio. Takebase Pro raises that to 15 hours. Delete a take and its minutes come straight back.

Adding members is always free. The limit is on audio, never on people.

Going over the free limit pauses uploading and playback until you make room or subscribe. Nothing is deleted.

PRIVACY

No ads. No tracking across other apps or websites. Nothing sold to anybody. Your recordings are private to the album they sit in and to the links you choose to send.

Takebase Pro Monthly: EUR 9.99 per month
Takebase Pro Yearly: EUR 69.99 per year

Those are the euro-zone prices and they vary by region; the price for your account is shown in the app before you confirm. Where a free trial is offered, the app shows its length and the price that follows it, payment is taken at the end of the trial, and a trial is offered once per Apple ID.

Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase. A subscription renews automatically unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the current period ends, and your account is charged for the renewal within 24 hours of that. Manage or cancel a subscription in your Apple Account settings.
