Purgi Dictionary

This is the first ever Dictionary in PURGI, the local Language of Kargil. A first in the 2000 year history of Purgi.

This Multi-lingual Dictionary is being launching as a mobile app and it has a collection of over 5000 Purgi words, with many common usage words of Balti and other nearby languages.

Multilingual Dictionary would mean that words are Translated from English to Purgi, with translations in Hindi and Urdu as well. And since almost 70% of kargili people do not know Purgi script, the Purgi words are stated in English (Latin script alphabet).

This dictionary will help in Linguistic heritage (Documents unique vocabulary and some long lost words), add more Learning resources (Essential tool for language learners, teachers, and researchers) and preserving the Language. This app will also be helpful for tourists visiting this region.
