Using Delivery Mode, you can send images, videos, and files directly to your computer or storage targets. You can also back up your photo library to a computer on the same local area network (LAN), external storage devices, and SMB, WebDAV, SFTP, S3, OneDrive, Dropbox, and Google Drive storage.

Watermelon Backup allows you to back up your iPhone photo library directly to a computer on the same LAN, external storage devices, or various network and cloud storage solutions. It also enables quick sending of images, videos, and files via Delivery Mode. Supported storage options include SMB, WebDAV, SFTP, S3-compatible storage, OneDrive, Dropbox, and Google Drive. Transferred content does not pass through Watermelon Backup's servers.

• Back Up to Computer or External Storage Devices
Back up directly to a computer on the same LAN as your iPhone without installing a desktop app. Open link.watermelonbackup.com in Chrome or Edge, select the backup folder, and scan the QR code using Watermelon Backup. Ensure both devices are on the same LAN. You can also back up directly to an external storage device connected to your iPhone.

• Deliver Images, Videos, and Files
In Delivery Mode, select images, videos, and regular files to send directly to the Inbox folder of your computer or storage target without creating backup records. Options include sending original or edited versions, pairing MOV videos with Live Photos, and removing location metadata from exported files before sending. The originals in the Photos app remain unchanged.

Delivery Mode does not check if files already exist; duplicate sends will be kept as copies. The free version limits each send to a maximum of 3 items, while Pro has no such restriction.

• Network and Cloud Storage Targets
Connect to NAS or servers via SMB, WebDAV, or SFTP, or use S3-compatible storage. When using OneDrive, log in with your personal Microsoft account; work/school accounts and SharePoint are not supported. OneDrive backups are stored only in the app’s folder. Dropbox backups are stored in Dropbox/Apps/Watermelon, and Watermelon cannot access your other Dropbox files. When using Google Drive, provide your own OAuth Client ID. Watermelon uses a separate folder in “My Drive” and requests access only to files created by this OAuth app.

• Browse and Manage Media
The built-in media browser covers the entire library and selected albums. In the full library view, switch between “Local,” “All,” and “Remote” views to browse your device library, connected backups, or a combined view. You can see where each item is located: on the device, in the backup, or both. Full-screen browsing for photos, videos, and Live Photos allows you to select one or more items for upload, restoration, sharing, or deletion from the device or backup.

• Background Automatic Backup — PRO
Upgrade to Pro to automatically upload current and previous calendar month data to saved SMB, WebDAV, SFTP, S3, OneDrive, Dropbox, or Google Drive targets when your iPhone is charging and connected to the internet. Set minimum intervals and Wi-Fi/cellular data usage preferences for each target; actual execution timing is determined by iOS. “Backup to Computer” sessions and external storage devices do not support background automatic backup.

• Picture-in-Picture Progress — PRO
While uploading, downloading, or completing tasks are running and the app is sent to the background, a floating picture-in-picture window displays real-time transfer status and logs. Pro is a one-time purchase; no subscription required.

• Backup, Download, or Complete by Month
On the home screen, your iPhone library and backup targets are displayed side-by-side by month. Select one or more months to backup, download, or complete. “Complete” first backs up missing local items to the target, then restores remote-only items to the Photos app; it does not synchronize deletions. Existing content is identified to avoid unnecessary transfers; ongoing tasks can be paused and resumed.

• Keep Originals and Restore
Photo and video assets are not re-compressed during transfer. Backing up edited media includes the edited version, the unedited original, and adjustment data. Live Photos are stored as static images paired with videos and reconstructed when restored to the Photos app. Optional iCloud Photo access retrieves originals stored only in iCloud when needed; turning it off limits processing to resources available on the device.

• Built-in Tools
The “Duplicate Items” tool finds identical items within your local photo library, allowing you to confirm which items to keep before deleting selected duplicates.

• Open Source and Auditable
Source code is open for review. Credentials for saved targets are stored in the iOS Keychain.
