GridMemo is an interesting learning & memory tool that can help learners understand knowledge more deeply and remember knowledge more efficiently.
Why is GridMemo good?
We have incorporated the research results of many cutting-edge cognitive science and brain science into the product design of GridMemo.
【Memory Palace Method】
GridMemo applies the Memory Palace Method, which can associate key points with the spatial positions of the grids, utilize the brain's powerful spatial visual memory ability to create visual scenes, and recall key points in an orderly manner along the path, improving memory efficiency and accuracy.
【Working Memory】
Working memory is the brain's internal memory with limited capacity, capable of processing only 5 to 9 information units simultaneously. The nine-square grid of GridMemo can flexibly adapt to the working memory quantities of different people, reducing cognitive load and enhancing memory efficiency.
【Necessary Difficulty】
Creating grids has a certain degree of difficulty. Research has proven that introducing appropriate learning challenges can enhance information encoding and long-term memory effects. GridMemo can promote in-depth understanding and knowledge application, improving problem-solving abilities.
【Feynman Learning Method】
Using GridMemo is no longer about passively receiving knowledge but actively creating and outputting "knowledge building blocks". Research has shown that driving input through output can greatly improve learning efficiency, deepen understanding and memory.
【Emotional Memory】
Using GridMemo requires organizing, analyzing, and creating knowledge, stimulating emotions towards the learned content, generating emotional memory, and further strengthening the memory effect.
【Spaced Repetition】
GridMemo uses the FSRS algorithm developed based on the principle of the Ebbinghaus Forgetting Curve. By conducting regular reviews with increasing intervals to combat forgetting, it helps learners maintain and strengthen memory more effectively.
【Testing Effect】
Research has confirmed that actively recalling information is more effective than passive review, contributing to long-term memory and knowledge consolidation. The three review and test functions provided by GridMemo allow learners to conduct active recall and testing at any time.
【Pattern Memory】
GridMemo can stimulate learners' pattern memory, that is, integrating new information through existing knowledge frameworks, reducing cognitive load, filling memory gaps, making memory more complete and coherent, thus enhancing the memory effect.
【Interleaved Practice】
Reviewing grids on different topics in GridMemo is interleaved practice. Research has shown that alternating between different tasks and increasing cognitive challenges can enhance learning interest and memory persistence, improving the ability to apply knowledge flexibly.
How to use GridMemo?
GridMemo cleverly connects the two key steps in the process of learning knowledge - understanding and memory - with the nine-square grid, strengthening memory with understanding and deepening understanding with memory. By creating grids and reviewing grids, you can simply and efficiently complete these two steps.
【Creating Grids】
GridMemo can present the internal structure of knowledge like a mind map. Whether it is arranged horizontally, vertically, or in a cross structure or triangular structure, each arrangement method turns the originally scattered and boring knowledge points into a complete and interesting "knowledge building block". When using GridMemo to create grids, you are no longer just a recipient of knowledge but a creator of knowledge building blocks.
【Reviewing Grids】
In GridMemo, the content to be reviewed is the "knowledge building block" you created yourself. Because it is your own work, you will be more willing to review it, or more precisely - appreciate it again. You can recall the logical structure used during creation before, and then recall the specific knowledge points at each structural point.
You can use the three interesting functions of looking at grids, flipping grids, and moving grids to further deepen the associative memory of knowledge content and knowledge structure. By rating the familiarity level, let me use the algorithm to help you arrange the best review time and help you get rid of the trouble of the forgetting curve.
What's the difference between GridMemo and other learning & memory software?
GridMemo is not a 【note-taking software】. It can put knowledge into your own mind rather than an external brain.
GridMemo is not a 【mind map】. It can enable you to understand the structure of knowledge rather than just present it.
GridMemo is not a 【memory flashcard】. It can enable you to obtain long-term memory of knowledge rather than just short-term memory.
GridMemo is a 【knowledge transfer protocol】. It can standardize the literal knowledge in books into a spatial form that is easier for your brain to understand and remember, and more effectively send knowledge into your mind.
GridMemo is a 【knowledge cultivation container】. It can allow you to understand knowledge in your own way, integrate knowledge into your thought system, grow in your
