WHAT IT IS

Polarity is a daily meditation app for musicians and curious listeners. Each session plays a drone that moves through all 12 keys over 13 minutes - and asks you to notice what you feel in your body, not just your ears. Every scale tone has an emotion, and an opposite across the spectrum, and adjacent within the spectrum.


TRACK 1 - INTERVAL POLARITIES (12 sessions)

Every tone is one half of a pair. The 3 only sounds bright because the b3 is its shadow. The 5 only sounds settled because there's a b5 that isn't.

Each session sits with one scale tone over a root drone - your job is to notice which way it tips, what it leans away from, what it's the opposite of.

TRACK 2 - CHORD GRAVITY (48 sessions across 3 levels)

The chord doesn't change. The pull does.

Three notes - root, third, fifth - keep playing, but every twenty seconds the drone shifts emphasis. The 3 steps forward and tries to become home. Then the 5. Every color tone in the scale rearranges itself behind the chord depending on which tone is winning.

TRACK 3 - SCALE FIELDS (34 scales)

A scale is a pattern of pulls. Phrygian leans toward its dark pairs. Lydian leans toward its bright ones. Dorian sits between, holding two pulls at once.

Drone root plays continuously. Scale tones enter freely - sometimes alone, sometimes in pairs. Sit inside the field. Notice what pulls at what.

CHORD LABORATORY

Build any chord. Hear it as piano or sustained drone. Toggle between THEORY and FEEL labels. The totem pole shows what's in the mix - root at the bottom, extensions stacked above.


THE FRACTAL MAP

The twelve intervals from root to octave aren't random. They sit on a shape - two halves that mirror each other across the tritone. Every tone has a twin on the other side, and the twins carry opposite emotional charges. Polarity's interactive map lets you hear it directly.
